Raquel was born in the small town of Rio San Juan on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. She graduated in Accounting at the University (UTESA) in 2000. In this same year she began working in the accounting department of Soluz Dominicana, S.A., a pioneering solar enterprise. She later became the administrator of the company which involved equipment importation and serving customers in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Through this work she learned about Solar Energy and the positive impact it can have on the island of Hispaniola. Based on the practical business experience gained with Soluz Dominicana, she established her own business, SOLARWAVE in 2012. After 17 years of experience working with solar energy she understands how we can change our way of life to be more sustainable by using more renewable energy. She uses solar energy in her own home. Raquel speaks Spanish and English.
Estefany was born in the Dominican Republic and lives on the North Coast in the town of Cangrejo. She graduated from high school in 2015. She has prior experience in the street markets of the North Coast working with her mother. She is of Haitian decent and is fluent in Haitian Kreyol and Spanish. Estefany began working with Solarwave in October 2017. She has been working in the Dajabon-Ouanaminthe marketplace promoting Sun King solar products with excellent results. What she likes the most about working at Solarwave are the trips she makes every Friday to the binational market in Dajabon, meeting different women is a valuable experience.
